Pennsic was actually quite a revitalizing and inspiring event for me, and now that things are unpacked and some of the initial busyness of catching up is done, I’ve turned to the sewing room to try to inventory what it was I was doing.
Some background: I burned out a while ago, mostly due to general burnout and the onset of depression. I haven’t sewed in a while and now that my mental state is vastly improved, I’m returning to a hobby I enjoy very much.

So far I’ve identified 10 projects that are viable and have been languishing, and I’m pretty sure I’m not done. Fortunately few of them need materials.
- Black wool suit – made of some fine black wool with subtle raised stripe, on the table there
- Gilly flower suit – reverse appliqué with leather and silk
- Making Metal Thread – ambitious project to hand-produce real metal thread
- Basic Wardrobe – A project of projects! Need more clothing for events
- Lounging robe – for when my bathrobe just won’t do it
- Embroidered casket – I have this entire kit just waiting to begin on…
- Assisi Atlantia Cloth – An adaptation of an Italian pattern to include Spike
- Raspberry Sackback Gown – silk, long, with a train
- Red and Gold embroidered coif – A project that also got a reboot when I didn’t like both the size of the coif and the thickness of the silk I was using
- Wool canvas doublet – simple, effective
One of the bigger project does need materials: the Gilly Flower suit. The infamous project that, after 80 hours of work, I decided was not right. That will need more leather.
The cleanup and inventorying will continue, however, so stay tuned for this project board to fill up and progress to be posted!

I’m sorry to learn of your burnout, and glad you’re on the mend and inspired again. That’s a rough road to travel.
I’m impressed by both sewing spaces AND by your organizational skills about your upcoming projects! Looking forward to reading much more!
